Arson Charges for Man Who Allegedly Set Cars on Fire
Gwinnett Fire officials said witnesses saw the man start a fire on the car of someone he knew; three cars were ablaze when crews arrived.
A Norcross man has been arrested and charged for a 2014 arson fire that damaged three cars, apparently the result of a domestic dispute.
Gwinnett Fire said in a news release George Moreno was booked at the Gwinnett County Detention Center on Monday, charged with three counts of first-degree arson.
The charges are connected to a Feb. 27, 2014, vehicle fire in the 1000 block of Park Colony Drive (Sinclair Apartments).

Crews found a total of three vehicles burning in the parking lot on arrival around 11 p.m. that night. The fire damaged three cars, including the intended targeted car parked in the middle, which was destroyed. The other two cars had moderate to major damage.
“A witness at the time of the incident, stated that they saw an unknown male pour something on the vehicle and ignite the fire, before running away from the scene,” Gwinnett Fire said in the news release. “Moreno was said to be in a previous relationship with the owner of the [middle car]. The motive in the case appears to be domestic-related per investigators.”

Fire Investigators say Moreno was originally picked up in DeKalb County on Oct. 19 and was extradited to Gwinnett County based on the outstanding warrants.
