Boy, 6, Stabbed To Death In Peachtree Corners; Woman In Custody
The initial call was sent to first responders as an apartment fire, but police said the boy's death is being investigated as a homicide.
PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA— A 6-year-old boy who had been stabbed to death Thursday morning was found in an apartment fire, Gwinnett County Police said.
Police said the stabbing and fire happened in the 4900 block of Springs Lane.
The initial call from an upper level resident was dispatched around 8 a.m. to first responders as an apartment fire.

Police said when firefighters entered the affected apartment, they found the unresponsive boy, who was believed to be about 6-years-old.
"When members of the fire department arrived, they could hear an audible fire alarm coming from the unit on the first level. After making entry into the first-level unit, they discovered an unresponsive boy who appeared to have multiple stab wounds," police said in a news release.

The boy, who was the only person in the apartment at the time, was taken to a local hospital, where he died, police said. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
Officers began canvassing the area, in search of a person of interest, when they found a woman around 9:15 a.m. behind the apartment building. Police said her clothes were wet, and she was wearing one sock.
She was taken into custody, and detectives are working to determine her involvement in the investigation, police said.
"At this point, detectives believe she also resided in the apartment where the child was found," police said in the release.
The boy was not identified, and a motive is unknown.
