Chime In on Simpsonwood at Public Meeting
Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation Department begins master plan for Simpsonwood Park.
Gwinnett County announced Thursday that it has scheduled a public meeting to discuss the master planning of Simpsonwood Park on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Norcross High School theater.
As part of its 2013 Parks and Recreation Capital Improvements Plan, Gwinnett County had recognized the need for a large open space park in the western part of the county and acquired the 227-acre Simpsonwood property last year.
The purchase was funded by SPLOST.

Residents may also apply to serve on the Citizen Steering Committee, which will work to help formulate a master plan for the park.
The track of land, which fronts the Chattahoochee River, had been deeded as a gift to the United Methodist Church by Ms. Ludie Simpson in the early 1970s. The church had built a conference and retreat center on a portion of the property but in the last few years decided to look into selling the property when the conference center began to lose money.
