Peachtree Corners Residents Asked To Rank Transit Needs

The City of Peachtree Corners invites community input regarding transportation in the quickly expanding community.

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA – Since incorporating just four years ago, the city’s population has continued to grow as more people choose to make Peachtree Corners their home and new businesses open and relocate to Gwinnett County’s newest city.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Peachtree Corners’ population grew by 7.8 percent between 2010 and 2015 and those numbers are projected to steadily increase. That growth will put additional demands on the city’s transportation needs which makes planning long term paramount.

“Planning for the city’s future transportation needs is one of our top priorities,” said Mayor Mike Mason. “Peachtree Corners is strategically located to major highways making it a very desirable community to live and work.”

Over 50 attended the first of two community meetings held August 11 at City Hall. Residents were asked to participate in a number of interactive activities to help identify areas of need within the city. Attendees were asked to rank transportation needs in order of importance; topping the list was to “Make transportation decisions that improve the quality of life in the community.”

Participants were also asked to identify specific areas of the city that they felt needed improvement. A number of intersections were identified including Spalding Drive at Holcomb Bridge Road, Peachtree Corners Circle at Peachtree Parkway and Winters Chapel Road at Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

The August 11 presentation is available on the city’s website, under the “News” tab located on the homepage.

At the next meeting, scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 17, Pond & Company will present their preliminary findings based on the August 11 meeting – and the results from the online survey - and give attendees an opportunity to comment on its recommendations. A final report with recommendations will be presented after the November meeting.

City leaders encourage those who have not yet participated, to take a few moments to complete the online transportation survey.
