Dog Dies, Families Displaced In Peachtree Corners Apartment Fire
An adult was treated for non-threatening injuries, but fire officials said all residents were safe.

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA — Multiple families were displaced and a dog died Tuesday after an apartment building fire in the 3500 block of Park Lake Lane, according to the Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services.
Firefighters arrived around 6:30 a.m. to The Lakeside Retreat at Peachtree Corners Apartments after a woman reported a fire in her bedroom, fire officials said.
Crews saw smoke coming from an apartment window upon arrival and began evacuating the building, fire officials said. Fire came from a second-floor apartment bedroom and spread to an attic space, fire officials said.

All residents safely escaped but firefighters found a dog that had died, fire officials said. One adult was treated at the scene for non-threatening injuries. The cause of the fire was undetermined.
A woman told fire officials she had returned home from an errand and found smoke filling her apartment. She tried to gather her two dogs but could only locate one of them before having to escape, fire officials said.

Extensive smoke and water damage in the building caused the displacement of families living in eight apartment units. Firefighters worked with apartment management to secure shelter for those residents affected, fire officials said.
