Fatal Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested, Charged

Gwinnett Police said Hakeem Dure Temple has been charged with vehicular homicide for the death of pedestrian Amber Harding.

Gwinnett Police have arrested and charged the suspected hit-and-run driver in last week’s fatal pedestrian accident accident that killed Amber Harding.

Police said media attention to the Tuesday night, Oct. 6, incident in unincorporated Norcross led investigators to locate then apprehend Hakeem Dure Temple, 25, of Lilburn.

Temple was arrested Saturday.

Temple has been charged with vehicular homicide and felony hit-and-run. He is being held without bond in the Gwinnett County Jail.

Police said Harding, 28, of Tucker, was killed while crossing the road at the intersection of South Norcross Tucker and Graves roads Tuesday around 10 p.m.

Detectives believe the driver was driving north on South Norcross Tucker, and accelerated to pass through a yellow light, before the accident happened. The driver then fled the scene.

The ”don’t walk” sign was illuminated when Harding crossed the road, police said.
