Father of Slain NHS Teen Sentenced to Prison

Nick Jackson, Sr., was sentenced Thursday for his involvement in a cocaine ring.

Nick Jackson Sr., the father of the slain Norcross teen, was sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison Thursday (May 24) for his involvement in a Mexican distributing network for cocaine, according to media reports.

His sentence of 97 months was given by United States District Judge Charles Pannell Jr. during a brief hearing in Atlanta, The Gwinnett Daily Post reports. Five years of supervised release will follow Jackson's prison term.

In February, Jackson pleaded guilty to one count of distributing cocaine. He was arrested with eight other suspects last August and has been out on bond since October. He will start his prison sentence in August 2013.

According to an indictment filed with the U.S. District Court obtained by Norcross Patch, the cocaine distribution goes back to January 2011.

Jackson's involvement in the cocaine ring is believed to have contributed to the killing of his son, Nick Jackson II. In February 2012, Norcross Police reported six men went into the Jacksons' Autry Street home to try to find drug cash and ended up fatally shooting the 15-year-old Norcross High student. Seven suspects have been arrested in the case.
