Flash Flood Watch Issued For Sunday Evening

The National Weather Service has sent an alert of the possibility of rising waters due to the heavy afternoon rains.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood watch for Sunday afternoon for the north Georgia area which includes Peachtree Corners.

The flood watch is in effect from 8 p.m. Sunday through Monday morning. Heavy rainfall is forecast for much of the area with as much as 1.5 to 2 inches of rain expected.

LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE IF THE HEAVY RAIN REPEATEDLY MOVES OVER THE SAME AREA. ALSO...STORM DRAINS... DITCHES...AND LOW LYING AREAS MAY BECOME QUICKLY CLOGGED WITH DEBRIS AND CAUSE EXTENSIVE STREET FLOODING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING.

FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.

The NWS predicts 90 percent chance of rain throughout Sunday evening with a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms on Monday.
