Gwinnett GOP Poll Picks Handel

Former Georgia Secretary of State and 2010 candidate for governor, Karen Handel, topped a recent straw poll to determine who would represent the GOP in 2014 to replace U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss.

At this month’s 12-day Gwinnett County Fair, the Gwinnett County Republican Party conducted a straw poll to see who would represent the GOP in the 2014 election to replace U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss.

Chambliss announced in January that he wouldn't seek a third term next year. The fair concluded Sunday and it is not known how many people were polled.

Former Georgia Secretary of State and 2010 candidate for governor, Karen Handel, topped the poll results.

Gwinnett County Fair Straw Poll:

Karen Handel – 39 percent

Paul Broun – 26 percent

Phil Gingrey – 11 percent

Jack Kingston – 10 percent

Undecided – 9 percent

Derrick Grayson – 5 percent

Eugene Yu – 0 percent
