Lawrenceville Man, 18, Charged In Murder Of Norcross Teen: Police

DeAndre Henderson, 17, died Wednesday after he was shot near Technology Parkway in Peachtree Corners, police said.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Gwinnett County police have charged an 18-year-old man with murder in connection with this week's shooting death of a Norcross teen, authorities said Friday.

Brendon Young of Lawrenceville is charged with felony murder and aggravated assault following the death of 17-year-old DeAndre Henderson, police said in a news release. Henderson died at the hospital Wednesday after he was shot near Technology Parkway.

Henderson was a Norcross High School student. Police said he left school during regular school hours, and the shooting happened outside of school property.

Following Henderson's death, Police Chief J.D. McClure said the department will work with Gwinnett County Public Schools police to increase patrols at local campuses and to provide additional investigative resources.

"The rash of gun violence involving our youth is being felt in communities across the country," McClure said in a statement. "While Gwinnett County is not immune to these incidents, I want to assure our residents that our community’s violent crime rate has declined by double digits in all categories during the past year."

All motives in Wednesday's shooting are being explored, police said.
