Gwinnett Police ID Man Killed In Attempted Carjacking At Gas Station

Gwinnett police identified the victim as Bradley Coleman, 29, of Louisiana. They said he was fatally shot while at a gas station air pump.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Police identified the man who was fatally shot Sunday at a gas station when a group tried to steal his car while he was putting air in his tire.

Gwinnett County police responded to the incident shortly after 12:30 p.m. at the QuickTrip gas station at 5255 Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree Corners. They said they found a man with gunshot wounds, identified as 29-year-old Bradley Coleman of Louisiana. Investigators said they believe Coleman was trying to put air in his tires when three suspects targeted him.

One of the suspects got into the driver's seat of the victim's car, police said. The victim tried to stop his car from being stolen. The suspect and the victim got into a fight inside the car. That's when a second suspect got involved.

The victim was shot during the altercation. He died on the scene, according to police.

During this incident, another car pulled up behind waiting to use the air pumps, not realizing what was happening, police said. The suspects collided into the waiting car and were last seen traveling south on Peachtree Parkway. Investigators believe the incident was an attempted carjacking.
