Peachtree Corners Baha'is celebrate "Twin Birthdays" of Founders

Baha'is of Peachtree Corners welcome all seeking unity to join them in celebration of "Twin Birthdays" of Founders

Every year, Baha’is all over the world celebrate two special occasions on successive days: The Birth of the Bab, the Herald of the Baha’i Faith (born 1819) and the Birth of Baha’u’llah, its Founder (born 1817). This year, the Baha’i community of Peachtree Corners warmly welcomes all to a commemoration of the births of these two Holy Figures. Plans underway include uplifting programs that are open to everyone and without cost.

In the midst of religious intolerance and extremism, the Baha’i Faith offers a path toward world peace by advocating the oneness of humanity and its major religions.

On Friday, November 9, Baha’is of Peachtree Corners will host a program celebrating the Birth of the Bab with devotions, uplifting music and a special showing of “The Gate,” which is a documentary that chronicles His life. Festivities begin at 5 pm, with dinner at 7 pm and a short program at 8 pm, followed by dessert and fellowship. No one will be late… everyone is welcome to join when they are able. To RSVP, please call the Peachtree Corners Baha’i information line at 770-604-1283.

On Saturday, November 10, the Baha’is of Peachtree Corners will host a brief program, including music, storytelling and refreshments in celebration of the Birth of Baha’u’llah. This event will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 pm, located at 3725 Davinci Court, Peachtree Corners.

Baha’u’llah (1817-1892), which translates to “the Glory of God,” was a spiritual teacher Who announced in 1863 that He was the bearer of a new revelation from God. His teachings have spread around the world, forming the basis of a process of social transformation and community building which is unique in its global scope and the diversity of participants.

Baha’u’llah’s vision of the oneness of humanity and message of spiritual upliftment is an antidote to the racial prejudice and materialism that are corroding American society today.

“The news in today’s world is dominated by negative stories and reports of people saying and doing things that make it feel like society is crumbling before our eyes. Now more than ever we need spiritual renewal and positive models of social change that bring people together rather than divide them,” said Al Viller, member of the Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Peachtree Corners. “The timely and relevant messages of hope delivered to us by The Bab and Baha’u’llah are what we’re celebrating along with the births of these two Holy Figures.”
