Sorority Members Are Encouraging Public to Keep Good Credit in Their "Sight" And Donate Gently Used Eyeglasses

The Psi Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated will host “Get Credit Why’s”, an innovative and educational seminar on Saturday, March 30 from 10:00am – 12:00pm in the Norcross High School Media Center located at 5300 Spalding Dr., Norcross, GA 30092. The event is free, however, attendees are being asked to bring gently used eyeglasses for donation to Lions Club International.
If an individual is looking to borrow money for any reason – to purchase a car, get a mortgage or to take out a student loan, their credit score will determine how much that loan will cost them. However, having good credit history is not just about being able to buy things. Often one’s credit history is considered by potential employers. According to the New York Times, 47% of employers check a potential employee’s credit score. Not having a good credit history can cost on many levels.
Speaking of potential employment, the over 100 sorority sisters of the chapter are hoping that college students as well as high school seniors and juniors attend the seminar so that they too can “Get Credit Why’s”. There are several pitfalls and slipups that young credit users must be educated to avoid – such as shopping on a whim-- to prevent credit problems in the long term.
Psi Omega Omega Chapter is proud to partner with Regions Bank to educate the community members on why all individuals should know their credit score and debt-to-income-ratio, engage in good credit practices, take steps to repair not so perfect credit, and monitor their credit in the effort to protect themselves against identity theft.
The public is invited to attend this free seminar and is being asked to bring a gently used eyeglasses for donation to the Lions Club International. A RSVP is required: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/get-credit-whys-tickets-58198399981
