Peachtree Corners Voters Pass Sunday Alcohol Sales Bill

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA – A majority of voters in Peachtree Corners cast their ballots in favor of the referendum to allow restaurants located within city limits to sell and serve distilled spirits and alcoholic beverages by the drink on Sundays beginning at 11 a.m.

The referendum passed 1,022 to 190 in favor of the new law. Previously, restaurants were not permitted by state law to serve alcoholic beverages on Sundays until 12:30 p.m.

The new law giving restaurants the option to begin serving at 11 a.m. on Sundays, begins once the votes have been certified, a process that generally takes a week.

During this year’s legislative session, a bill had been introduced to amend Title 3 of the Official Code of Georgia relating to alcoholic beverages which authorized cities and counties to hold a referendum to change the current law that restricted restaurants from serving alcoholic beverages before 12:30 p.m. on Sundays. This referendum had been referred to as the “Brunch Bill.”
