SAME MISSION – NEW NAME
NEIGHBORHOOD COOPERATIVE MINISTRIES
Effective May 15, 2020 - Norcross Cooperative Ministry has officially changed its name to Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries (NCM).
Why the new name? The drive for changing our name originated with a desire to better define who ALL we serve in Southwest Gwinnett County. Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries serves a broader area than just Norcross. We serve the needs of at-risk Gwinnett County residents from Doraville, Norcross, Peachtree Corners, and Tucker as well as Greater Gwinnett through community partner referrals and various funding cycles. Since 1988, low income and homeless families have received food, clothing, and financial assistance from the Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries. NCM receives support from local churches, businesses, civic and social organizations, foundations and individuals.

Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries has kept its doors open during the coronavirus pandemic to ensure as many of its clients in Doraville, Norcross, Peachtree Corners and Tucker have access to desperately needed services as possible. Since the last week in March, food lines have extended 100+ cars deep on distribution days. On a normal distribution day, Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries usually serves 50-70 families with food, clothing and financial assistance. Since the Covid-19 pandemic kicked into high gear, NCM has seen a tremendous increase in need in our “neighborhood”! Statistically speaking, from the last week in February 2020 to the last week in March 2020, NCM’s total clients served increased 526% from 125 clients to 783 clients per week. Total pounds of food distributed increased by 710% during this same time period.
NCM food supplies are running low, and the Atlanta Food Bank and grocery stores that routinely help NCM with food supplies, are unable to do so during this pandemic due to their own needs and demands.
