Woman Suspected of Cashing $238K in Counterfeit Checks: Police

The suspected frauds allegedly occurred late last year at SunTrust banks in Peachtree Corners, Norcross.

Gwinnett Police are looking for help in identifying a woman suspected in forgery investigations dating back to last year in the Peachtree Corners/Norcross area.

Police said she is suspected of depositing two counterfeit checks worth more than $200,000. The incidents happened in November and December of last year, but not reported until earlier this month.

Incident 2

  • Date: 12/01/2014
  • Amount Deposited: $98,000.00
  • Location: SunTrust, 5950 Jimmy Carter Boulevard, Norcross

“Once the checks cleared the bank, the suspect would make withdraws from the account,” police spokesperson Cpl. Michele Pihera said in a news release. “Most of the money was already withdrawn from the account before the bank shut the account down on December 3, 2014.”

Police released images of the woman Wednesday morning.
