GEORGIA — After no one won the Mega Millions grand prize Tuesday night, Georgia Lottery officials on Wednesday said the game's final jackpot of August has soared to $627 million.

No one matched all six numbers in Tuesday's drawing; the white ball numbers were 16, 18, 21, 54 and 65, and the gold Mega Ball was 5. The jackpot sat at $582 million, and the Megaplier was 2x.

Mega Millions players could walk away with $309.1 million in cash should they win the jackpot in Friday's drawing, lottery officials said.

"If won at that level, it would be the ninth largest prize in the history of the game," lottery officials said in a news release.

Though no one secured the main prize, lottery officials said a winning $10,000 ticket was sold at a Woodstock Road Publix in Roswell.

It was on June 4 that the Mega Millions jackpot was last won, lottery officials said, noting the prize was $552 million. Since then, officials said there have been 24 drawings in the Mega Millions jackpot run to date.

There are nine ways to win prizes, which range from $2 to the top prize, in the Mega Millions.

Tickets, which cost $2 per play, can be bought at Georgia Lottery retailers statewide or purchased via the Georgia Lottery app. Players can also buy tickets on the Georgia Lottery's website.

Prizes can be multiplied with the Megaplier option, which costs an additional $1 per play. A $3 feature affords participants two plays solely for the jackpot prize.

Once a prize is won, players have 180 days from the draw date to claim it. Drawings are held at 11 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays in Atlanta.

Lottery officials said the overall odds of winning any Mega Millions prize are 1 in 24, and the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.

Proceeds from the Mega Millions go toward Georgia education, lottery officials said. Since its inception, the Georgia Lottery has given more than $28.3 billion to Georgia education, officials said.
