Here are the top stories in Roswell today:

  1. The City of Roswell recently made a big announcement regarding its historic house museums. Beginning on July 1, admission to the historic sites will be free. The city's goal is to gather more awareness and involvement from the public. They also want to educate more visitors about the city's rich history. The historic house museums include Smith Plantation, Bulloch Hall, and Barrington Hall. The museums will continue to host events and special attractions throughout the year. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. On Tuesday, the fire department responded to an emergency call at a retention pond near Elan Court in Roswell. Upon arrival, the crew learned that they were on a rescue mission. However, the subject of distress was not a human, but a fawn. Firefighters jumped in the water to rescue the animal. There were no injuries to either party reported. The Roswell Fire Department reminded residents to call local officials if you find wildlife caught in an ordeal. (WSB Atlanta)
  3. Applications are being taken to join the Canton Street Promenade Task Force. The task force will be made up of business owners and residents in Roswell, and will have a total of seven members. Four members will be business owners and must have establishments that are located on Canton Street or within 1,000 feet of Canton Street. The city will select two citizens that reside within ½ mile of the Canton Street District. One resident from the city, despite where they live, will be chosen. Sunday, July 2 is the deadline to apply and membership will be chosen on July 11. (City of Roswell, Georgia Government via Facebook)
