- The Roswell City Council will convene on Friday morning at Roswell River Landing to discuss Canton Street's possible closure to vehicular traffic. Specifically, they will talk about the previous task force's recommendation to hire an urban planner to conduct an economic impact study on the proposal. Councilman Mike Palermo said that he supports this suggestion. This proposal continues to be a divisive topic for city residents and business owners. According to former members of the task force, those who are believed to be in support of the Canton Street Promenade project have had notes left on their cars and have received threatening emails. - On July 1, the city began offering free admission to Roswell's historic home museums. Barrington Hall, Bulloch Hall and Smith Plantation are open to visitors during their normal business hours and for special events like History Seek Saturdays. These three sites are also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Each historic home offers cell-phone tours that are available for download, and volunteers will be present to answer questions. Guided tours are available by appointment only; tickets must be purchased to attend a guided tour. The City of Roswell hopes to advocate the public's engagement and involvement in the educational opportunities that teach about the lives and events that shaped Roswell’s history. (Appen Media)
- The city government has announced scheduled system maintenance on Saturday, Aug. 19 until Monday, Aug. 21. Online services for the City of Roswell will be suspended specifically between 11 p.m. on Saturday through 7 a.m. on Sunday. The system will shut down again between 11 p.m. on Sunday and will remain unavailable until 7 a.m. on Monday morning. During these times, residents will not be able to access the online payment system for utility billing and property tax payments, employment applications, Recreation & Parks registration, and vendor self-service information. The phone system for business license, permit fees, utility billing, and property tax payments will be unavailable as well. Payments from residents that are set-up via auto pay, will not be affected by this system maintenance. (Roswell Gov)
