Here are the top stories today in Roswell:

  1. On August 20, Roswell's Chattahoochee Nature Center will host their Summer Adventures Day. On this day, there will be a number of outdoor activities for the entire family to enjoy such as canoeing, archery, and paddle boarding. There will also be a guided bird walk with members from the Georgia Audubon. Master anglers will engage in fly fishing demonstrations. Some activities, however, are contingent upon a person's age and the weather conditions on that day. Other attractions may require a signed waiver in which to participate. (Newsbreak)
  2. A car theft was reported on June 29 from a residence on Magnolia Crescent Drive in Roswell. The victim told responding officers that her Infiniti QX60 was taken from her driveway. She reported that her vehicle was in her driveway unlocked, however, she remained in possession of the car's key fob. She also stated that she was unsure if a spare key was left inside the car. A neighbor's security camera did record footage of a white sedan pulling up to the victim's residence around 4 a.m. on June 29. An individual then exited the sedan and looked at the cars in the driveway; they then got into the Infiniti and fled the scene. The case is currently active and still under investigation. 3. The Roswell Fire Department has reported an increased number of "heat-related illnesses" calls due to the above-90 degree temperatures in Georgia. Their crews are now bringing aid kits that contain fluids and cold compresses with them when out on calls. One of the department's main concern is the beginning of football season; they want to make sure the students stay safe and healthy. Battalion Chief Danny Dwyer said “High schools will have two-day practices, a lot of times we see heat exhaustion with those guys, because they’re outside and sweating.” The fire department is also focusing on the safety of their crew members by making sure that they remain hydrated, stay indoors between calls, and take breaks when available.
