Here are the top stories in Roswell today:

  1. Roswell's Cultural Arts Division has partnered with South Arts to bring the Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers to the city. Beginning on Sept. 18, screenings of 2023-2024 films will begin. The final screening will be shown next year in April. These screenings will be free, but will have limited seating. Three films will be shown this autumn; three movies will be shown this winter and throughout spring of 2024. The screenings are planned to be screened at the cultural Arts center's B-Side Stage. The Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers will also allow participants to engage in open discussions with film makers after each screening. (Facebook)
  2. An Uber Eats driver reported an indecent exposure incident to the Roswell Police Department on July 3. The driver told police that she was delivering a food order to a property on Sheringham Court in Roswell. A male occupant opened the door and pulled down his pants and exposed himself to her. As she left to return to his car, the man asked her to perform sexual acts in exchange for money. The delivery driver wanted to press charges, however, the police department could not make contact with anyone at that address. (Appen Media)
  3. A shooting occurred in the parking lot of a Zaxby's restaurant on Sunday night in neighboring Alpharetta. According to police, a man was shot in an attempted robbery attempt by a bystander. "Alpharetta detectives have confirmed that the suspect was shot by a bystander who observed the robbery attempt in progress and intervened in the situation," the department reported. When responding officer arrived to the eatery on Old Milton Parkway, the alleged robber was found with two bullet wounds in the leg. His wounds were treated while in transport to the North Fulton County jail. (11 Alive)

  • City of Roswell, Georgia Government: Yesterday the City of Roswell remembered those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks at City Hall.   • Nextdoor Neighbor, Reserve at Crabapple: Boy Scout troop 51 is encompassed by scouts from the cities of Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, and Marietta. On Saturday, Sept. 23, they will be holding their Troop 51 Paint Recycling Fundraiser at the American Legion Post 201 in Alpharetta. The paint will be recycled and re-used by Atlanta Paint Disposal, and will be donated to local non-profits. (Nextdoor)
  • Roswell Woman's Club (RWC): Tickets will be going on sale soon for the RWC's Boo Ya'll Scarecrow Sip & Stroll event. The Sip & Stroll will take place from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22. Ticket sales will begin on Sept. 13. (Roswell Woman's club via Facebook)
