A Georgia man was convicted of sharing a threatening online message that shared then-FBI Director Christopher Wray's home address.
ROSWELL, GA — A 35-year-old Roswell man has been sentenced in connection with online threats made against then-FBI Director Christopher Wray, the Department of Justice said Thursday.
Officials said John Woodbury on April 18 pleaded guilty to transmitting a threat in interstate commerce before his sentencing on Thursday.
Woodbury threatened Wray via a message published on June 7, 2023 on 4chan.org, justice officials said. Wray's home address was shared in the message, they added.

The DOJ did not release a motive in the online posting.
U.S. District Judge Sarah E. Geraghty sentenced Woodbury to 17 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, justice officials said.
“The functioning of our democracy requires that our country’s public servants be able to do their jobs without fearing for their lives,” FBI Atlanta Special Agent in Charge Paul Brown said in a news release. “The sentencing of John Woodbury is yet another example of the FBI’s commitment to holding those accountable who threaten public officials."
