Here are the top stories today in Roswell:

  1. A 21-year-old man was arrested on May 14 after leading police on a high speed chase through Alpharetta and Roswell. Alpharetta Police noticed the vehicle on Main Street in Alpharetta running red lights, failing to maintain lanes, and speeding. The driver was able to elude police and travel into Roswell. The Roswell Police Department were able to beat the driver to his registered address after his license plate was ran and reported by Alpharetta. He was arrested by the Roswell Police Department and charged with speeding, reckless driving and fleeing and eluding. He was transported to the North Fulton County Jail. (Appen Media)
  2. A vulture surprised a Roswell couple after they returned to their home after an afternoon lunch outing on Saturday. When they opened their front door, they found the vulture perched in the living room inside their home. They were in complete shock, which quickly turned into worry as they realized their dog was inside with the large scavenger. Their dog, however, was safe and ran outside when they called its name. They quickly devised a plan on how to get the giant bird out of their home. They began to open and close an umbrella while shouting to make themselves appear larger than what they were and to scare it. The couple were able the chase the vulture out of their home. After reflecting on the incident, they believe the bird was able to enter their home through their doggie door that was left open. (11 Alive)
  3. A Marietta woman was reported causing a public disturbance after being observed aggressively knocking on the front door of a home and yelling racial slurs on Regency Road on May 28. She was also said to have threatened to deface peoples’ cars in the area. When police arrived, the woman reeked of alcohol, had an open can of beer in her hand, and appeared to have urinated on herself. She assaulted an officer, provided a false name, and birthday while being arrested. Her true identity was later discovered. The woman was charged with public intoxication, felony obstruction officers, as well as providing a false name and birthdate to law enforcement. She was booked into the North Fulton County Jail.
