  1. Five people who were protesting the construction of the Atlanta public training center were arrested after chaining themselves to construction equipment last Thursday. A 61-year-old Roswell man was one of the protesters that were arrested. He was charged with trespassing and obstruction. A group that represents the protesters say the arrests were made in response to their attempts to get ballot referendum. “The construction of this project and the destruction of the South River Forest have continued despite over 100,000 Atlanta residents signing a ballot initiative calling for a referendum on the issue," the group said. Atlanta police say they are working to allow citizens to maintain their First Amendment rights by protesting, but also to make sure the construction of the training site continues in a safe and secure manner. 2. Fall football is in full swing, and schools throughout the city are starting the season with a bang. Blessed Trinity Catholic High School recently vied against St. Pius X Catholic High School. The game started out a little rocky for the BT Titans after two fumbles allowed touchdowns to be made by the St. Pius X Golden Lions. Fortunes began to turn during the second quarter after senior Luke Ferguson scored after a fumble made by the Lions. With a little over 2 minutes left in the game, a 24-yard pass was completed by Blessed Trinity. They scored and obtained their first lead in the game. The Titans won the game after making an impressive comeback. (Newsbreak)
  3. Olu Amoda is one of the visual artists who will be showcasing their work in the "ArtAround: Pathways" exhibit at Don White Memorial Park. Amoda is renowned for using repurposed materials as a medium for his creations. He is a native of Lagos, Nigeria and uses recycled products to "explore socio-political issues relating to Nigerian culture today." Amoda experimented and incorporated new and different materials to create his current exhibit. His work can be found at the park until "ArtAround: Pathways" closes on Saturday, Sept. 30. (Facebook)
