Roswell Roads to be Resurfaced with GDOT Grant

The city is expected to approve accepting a state grant during the council meeting Monday, June 10.

Roswell City Council is expected to approve a budget ammendment Monday evening to accept Georgia Department of Transportation grant funding for local road resurfacing.

The $573,350.52 local maintenance and improvement grant from the state will be used to resurface Hardscrabble, Hembree, Norcross and Nesbit Ferry roads within Roswell, according to the city's resolution. Roswell is not required to provide matching funds in order to obtain the grant.

The council is also expected to approve spending $277,402.50 with Blount Construction to pave 17 city parking lots, including Roswell Area Park, East Roswell Park, Hembree Park, the Adult Recreation Center, Waller Park, Riverside Park and Azalea Park Rowing Club.

The Marietta-based construction company delivered the lowest of eight bids, according to the city. The money will come from a budgeted 2013 facilities maintenance fund.

The council will meet Monday, June 10 at 7 p.m. in Roswell City Hall Council Chambers, 38 Hill Street.
