Here are the top stories in Roswell today:
- On June 6, a teenager in Roswell reported to police that they were being extorted from a woman he met on Snapchat. The juvenile told officers that he and the woman had been messaging and sending each other illicit photos for some time. The woman then began to threaten to send the pictures to his friends if he did not send her $500. The Roswell Police Department is currently investigating this case. The teen was advised to block the woman from his social sites and was cautioned not to talk to strangers online. (Appen Media)
- A choking incident that happened earlier this month at The North Fulton County Jail is under investigation by the Fulton County Sheriff's office. The incident occurred when a woman, who was under arrest, was being processed into the facility. Surveillance footage and body cam video that was released for the investigation, cleared Alpharetta officers of any wrongdoing. The Alpharetta PD concluded their internal investigation on June 13. However, a Fulton County Sheriff's Office detention officer, Officer Clark, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault in relation to the incident. (11 Alive)
- $85,000 was raised at the Magnolia Ball on June 10 to help keep and restore Bulloch Hall. The money was raised from ticket sales and a silent auction. This is the 38th year that this fundraiser was held and hosted by the Friends of Bulloch Hall. The funds raised from the Magnolia Ball will be used to complete repairs to the plumbing system, furniture, the floors, and for general cleaning. Carpenter Geoff Lambousis, who reconstructed Bulloch Hall for 30 years, was also honored at the event. (Appen Media)
