  1. In conjunction with the statewide initiative to clean and upkeep the 70,100 miles of rivers and streams throughout Georgia, Keep Roswell Beautiful and the City of Roswell will host its Rivers Alive Cleanup event on Saturday, Sept. 16. This project is dependent on local volunteers to clean the banks of the Chattahoochee River, streams, and storm drains. Riverside Park, Old Roswell Cemetery, Bulloch Hall are just some of the cleanup sites for this year's event. Last year, 184 volunteers collected 4,400 pounds of garbage, marked over 200 storm drains, and removed numerous invasive plants from the city's waterways. Sept. 11 is the deadline for volunteers to sign-up to participate in the 2023 Roswell’s Rivers Alive Cleanup. (Newsbreak)
  2. On the night of Friday, Sept. 2, a 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with a shooting that resulted in one person being injured. The incident is reported to have occurred after the victim was dropped off to a residence on Barrington Drive; the alleged shooter, who was identified as Derrick Washington, was already at the home when the victim arrived. The report states that the victim then approached Washington in the driveway, and Washington responded by presenting a handgun and firing multiple shots at the victim. The man was hit once in the arm. Washington was arrested and was taken to Fulton County Jail. He is facing charges of aggravated assault. (Atlanta News First)
  3. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently sat down with K.J. Smith, the quarterback for the Roswell Hornets, for an interview. For the past two years, Smith has been a starter for the team, and led the team to the 2022 Class 6A semifinals. The Hornets hold a 3-0 record so far this season and are ranking fifth in their division. He was asked to compare the team's strengths and weaknesses of this season versus the previous season. He also talked about his skillset, what sets him apart as a player, and the importance of the upcoming game with Milton High School. He also told the news outlet that he has one offer from Alabama State University, and that he's being advised to "continue to do what you’re doing and have patience," as the recruiting process for the quarterback position is very different from that of any other position.
