- After a brief lapse, the City of Roswell is bringing back their CORE Community public engagement program. The program's aim is to familiarize the city's residents and business owners with the innerworkings of Roswell government. The course will run for nine weeks from Aug. 16 to Oct. 28, and each week, one of the city's departments will be the subject of discussion. "Not only do we want to help bring awareness and understanding of the City's day-to-day work through this program, but we hope the program's personal interaction among participants and staff helps inspire meaningful relationships, engagement, and collaboration within our community," said Mayor Kurt Wilson. The class will hold 25 participants, who will be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis. (City of Roswell Government)
- Cristy Kisner, the owner of Christy's Kitchen in Roswell, has been making a name for herself throughout the Atlanta culinary scene. Her new cookbook, titled "Christy's Kitchen," has been making waves as well. She recently sat down with the Marietta Daily Journal to discuss her journey from her upbringing in Peru to how she became the owner of the quaint gluten-free bakery in historic Roswell. Her business almost didn't survive the pandemic; however, she thanks Brandon Stanton, an author at the Humans of New York, and the Roswell community for helping her business survive and ultimately thrive. Her book, "Christy's Kitchen," has shown that Kisner has mastered the art of creating gluten-free recipes that are tasty but also nutritious. (MDJ Online)
- A family residing in the Elliot Roswell apartment complex is shaken after stray bullets riddled their home. The family was watching TV last Tuesday, June 13, when items in their home started shattering. It was determined that at least six stray bullets had entered several walls and doors within the unit. The Roswell Police Department responded to the scene shortly after midnight. A witness reported hearing about 12 gunshots. No one in the apartment unit was injured. Several shell casings were discovered onsite and property damage caused by gunfire was noted in the police report. A suspect has not been located; however, police believed the incident was due to a dispute that occurred in the parking lot that evolved into gunfire. (Atlanta News First)
