- A SWAT team standoff that occurred at the Racetrack gas station on Crossville Road had led the Roswell Police Department to ask the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate after the situation. On Wednesday morning, Roswell police were called to the gas station to respond to a call regarding a suspicious person at the business. Officers noted that the man was "visibly armed." The man would not comply with demands made by officers and locked himself inside the store. After safely evacuating the employees from the store, Roswell police called North Fulton SWAT for assistance. After a 2-hour standoff with the suspect, North Fulton SWAT stormed the building to arrest the man. Shots were exchanged, and the suspect was shot. The man was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- The week of Sept. 24 will be Stormwater Awareness Week in Roswell. During this week, the City of Roswell will be asking residents to look into ways that they can reduce runoff from stormwater. “Stormwater runoff is harmful to the waterways we drink and play in,” said Liberti Gates, Roswell’s environmental education coordinator. City government will hold multiple events that week to help raise awareness. They will also make daily posts on social media that will share helpful information that city residents can use to help make changes in their lives and households. (The City of Roswell, Georgia)
- Roswell City Council candidate, Robert Judson McClure, had removed his bid for candidacy after concerns were raised regarding where he lived and voted during the past year. McClure received an email last Friday from City Clerk Marlee Press, stating that she was going to "challenge his qualifications." The City Clerk also stated that she was going to ask for an investigation to be conducted by the Secretary of State and Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. These concerns were brought to her attention after receiving emails from city residents. McClure turned in a letter of withdrawal from the race to the Roswell City Clerk’s office on Monday, Sept. 11. McClure was running for the Roswell City Council Post 2 seat. (Newsbreak)
