  1. The city's 7-member task force will consult with public safety officials this week to gain more understanding on possible limitations nearby businesses will have if a pedestrian promenade is developed on Canton Street. One of the questions that the task force has for officials is if outdoor dining tables would be permitted in the street. The task force is scheduled to meet with directors from the city's police and fire departments to discuss how they use public safety procedures during major public events. Current parking conditions in the downtown area still remain a prominent concern; however, Mayor Kurt Wilson said that the city is expected to announce a location for the new parking deck within 90 days. The task force will hold their second meeting today at 6 p.m. at City Hall. (Newsbreak)
  2. A Roswell man reported to police that he saw a woman punching a small dog at the Mister Car Wash in John's Creek on July 7. The man told officers that the alleged suspect was parked inside the vacuum area at the carwash with two dogs. He reportedly witnessed her repeatedly strike one of the dogs, a pit bull, outside of her car and drag it by the collar. The woman left the carwash before police could arrive. The business' security cameras were not working and no video footage of the incident was captured; the suspect has yet to be identified. (Appen Media)
  3. The City Council voted to prolong an agreement with the City of Milton for the shared use of fire apparatus fueling services. The arrangement permits crews from fire stations 22 and 26 to refuel at Milton Fire Station 41, because it is the closer than any fuel site the City of Roswell has. This agreement is beneficial to the Roswell Fire Department, as it allows crew members from these stations to be closer to their primary response districts and it decreases wear-and-tear on their equipment. The city also saves money by buying the fuel at cost from another government organization rather than paying retail prices. (Fire Apparatus Magazine)
