- A third preschool teacher from the Parker-Chase Preschool of East Roswell was arrested on Wednesday, July 26. The school and its staff have been under investigation since last year after child abuse claims rose at the child care facility. Lulwa Almouslli was arrested after a hearing at the Fulton County courthouse on July 26. She was not initially arrested with the two other teachers involved in the allegations, Zeina Alostwani and Soriana Briceno. Both Alostwani and Briceno have been charged with felony cruelty to children and waived the July 26 arraignment. Almouslli had officially been charged with two counts of simple battery, one count of simple assault, and cruelty to children. (WSB-TV)
- The contention between the city's Canton Street Promenade Task Force and the task force that's comprised of downtown business owners has yet to be quelled. The business owners still feel that they are being "steamrolled" and/or ignored by the city government. "This is about [business owners'] investment, their money, their businesses, and the jobs they have created," Doug Curling, a Roswell business owner and resident, said. The proprietors feel that their revenue will be gravely affected by a closure of Canton Street. They say that their revenues decrease by 40 to 100 percent whenever the city closes any portion of Canton Street. However, Mayor Kurt Wilson and the city are confident that their proposal would bring more people to the downtown district and increase pedestrian traffic. (Axios)
- New business and franchises are continuing to choose Roswell as the home for their new locations. Whit's Frozen Custard currently has two locations in the state, one in Augusta and another in Newnan. The chain is gaining popularity and will soon open four more stores in Georgia. The City of Roswell will be one of their new sites. Some say that Whit's custard is the "smoothest, creamiest, silkiest textured" custard-style ice cream. They will offer fresh homemade custard that's made daily to the residents of Roswell. A date for the grand opening was not noted. (Newsbreak)
