- A former NBA basketball player, Kevin Willis, reported a burglary at his unit at the Life Storage facility on Mansell Place in Roswell on Aug. 8. The former Atlanta Hawk told responding officers that the locks to his unit looked to have been cut, and that 10 of his championship jerseys and a rack of clothing were taken from his storage unit. The jerseys were valued $100,000 and the clothing was valued at $9,000. Willis had not visited his unit since earlier this summer. The theft is currently being investigated by Roswell, and Willis will press charges against the alleged thieves. (Newsbreak)
- The Roswell Fire Department is receiving high accolades for improving its emergency response time. For the first 6 months of this year, the department recorded response times in the 90th percentile. They were responding more than a minute faster than they had in the previous 2 years. The use of AVL dispatch is noted to be one of the reasons for this improvement. The fire department also says its commitment to their first responders and the effective communication amongst the team are also contributors to this success. Fire Chief Joe Pennino said that the department's "priority is always to provide prompt and effective emergency services to our community, and these improvements reflect our team’s commitment to achieving our vision of being an innovative world-class public safety organization.” The Roswell Fire Department is working to make and build on these improvements. "Metallica M72 World Tour Live from TX #1" will be shown at the Movie Tavern Roswell on Aug. 18. The second night of that world tour performance will also play at the Movie Tavern on Aug. 20.
