- $49,000 in belongings and a car were reported stolen from a residence on Wood Creek Drive in Roswell on June 11. The woman told police that she returned home to find her front and balcony door unlocked and opened. She reported purses valued at about $40,000, $6,000 worth of jewelry, $3,000 in clothing, and several credit cards were stolen from her home. She also discovered that her car was taken as well. However, a towing company later contacted her to advise that her vehicle had been recovered in Atlanta. There was no video surveillance of the area, nor was there any evidence at the scene for investigators to process. The case is still under investigation with the Roswell Police Department. - A malfunction at the Big Creek Water Reclamation Treatment Facility in Roswell caused the sewage spill into the Chattahoochee River which subsequently led to dangerous levels of E. coli in the water. A 15-mile section of the river downstream from the plant will remain closed for at least another week. “It’s not the highest levels that we’ve recorded, but it’s the highest level that I’ve seen in this type of situation,” said river keeper Jason Ulseth. Ulseth also said that officials are growing biologic bugs that are designed to eat the sewage; they are also using bugs from other treatment plants to help speed up the process. There is no concrete date on when the river will reopen. (Newsbreak)
- A Roswell man told police that he received a text from an unknown individual who tried to blackmail him for money on June 13. The stranger told the man that they would kill him and come after his family if he did not send them $6,000. The texter then gave him evidence that they had his address and names of his relatives. The man then alerted the police of the text messages, and they were submitted to the records department. However, the case is now inactive. (Appen Media)
