  1. Another esteemed veteran was honored by Mayor Kurt Wilson and the council at the July 24 City Council meeting. James Montgomery Gibson enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1962. Montgomery was drawn to aviation and spent a year at the Naval Air Station Memphis in Tennessee studying Aviation Electronics. During his career in the Navy, he was stationed on numerous aircraft carriers around the world. Montgomery was honorably discharged from Active Duty in 1966 and the Naval Reserves as a Second Class Petty Officer (E5) in 1967. He also awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his service. 2. A new restaurant will be coming to Downtown Roswell next month. Cubanos ATL will open at 1007 Alpharetta St. and will be the eatery's fourth location. The brand has created a new concept for the Roswell site and will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It will also feature a full bar and will serve a variety of charcuterie boards. Wines from Spain, Argentina, and the Napa Valley will be served from their bar. “Our grapes are the showstopper. We infuse them with carbon dioxide and juice. They explode in your mouth,” said owner Ozzy Llanes. They plan to still be known for their Cuban sandwiches and their unique coffee program. (Newsbreak)
  3. On July 25, the Roswell Police Department conducted an injury crash investigation on Holcomb Bridge Road. The investigation caused the Roswell Police Department to close Holcomb Bridge Road in both directions between Holcomb Woods Parkway and Martin Road. Traffic was majorly affected in East Roswell, as the road was closed during the early part of the afternoon. Motorist were advised to use alternate routes along Martin Road, Old Alabama Road, or Riverside Road. They began to open some lanes to traffic around 2 p.m. All lanes were fully reopened at 4 p.m. The department did not include information about the accident that prompted the investigation.
