Here are the top stories today in Roswell:
- Another incident involving fireworks occurred on July 4 that resulted in the arrest of a Roswell man. A report was made by a resident on Rappahannock Drive that their neighbor was shooting fireworks into their backyard. When police arrived, they discovered pieces of fireworks and noted ash marks in the vicinity. The accused neighbor was noticeably intoxicated when officers made contact with him. He refused to identify himself, denied being under the influence, and said that he did not break any laws. He was arrested and EMS was called to evaluate the severity of his drunkenness. He was cleared by EMS and was transported to the Fulton County Jail in Alpharetta. (Appen Media)
- St. David's Episcopal Church in Roswell has created an after-school youth mentoring program called Path to Shine. Children are paired with mentors to help them create and develop "meaningful and enjoyable relationships." The program is in need of mentors, substitute mentors, and volunteers to assist with snack distribution. Mentors do various activities with their mentees like making crafts, helping with homework, reading, and playing games. Those who are interested can visit the church in-person for more details. - The journey to create a bond with an adopted nephew helped Lizzy Bullock create her new cookie shop that will be coming to Roswell. She and the then 3-year-old began baking chocolate chip cookies every Sunday. The pair would make anywhere from 70 to 200 cookies to share with neighbors. When she realized how much people enjoyed her cookies and creations, she became inspired by cookie companies such as Crumble, Tiff’s Treats, Insomnia. She decided to invest in Dirty Dough, a company based in Arizona who specializes in stuffed cookies. Dirty Dough will open in the Coleman Village shopping center in Roswell this upcoming September.
