Here are the top three stories in Savannah today:
- A Savannah family has lost everything in a fire that occurred on 39th Street. The PIP Group that owned the property next door that started the fire is paying for the hotel room that Kadejah Rosier and Calvin Farr are currently residing in. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the Savannah Fire Department is asking anyone with information to come forward. (WTOC)
- The Chatham County Detention Center is showcasing inmate artwork in the main lobby. The artwork is provided through the center's Inmate Transition Section T.E.A.M program which enables the center's inmates to tap into creative skills. The center's art therapy classes are just one of the 16 programs that inmates are allowed to register for. The classes are inspired by the community outreach team at Telfair Museums. (fox28media.com)
- Savannah's homeless shelters are seeing an increase in usage during the summer months. The increase is attributed to the warm weather that is sweeping the country. Every bed at the Old Savannah City Mission is being used - an increase from the 70 percent capacity the shelter is used to. (fox28media.com)
