Mary's Place sees hundreds seek help as assaults go underreported (savannahnow.com) — Savannah’s sexual assault crisis center, Mary’s Place, is seeing far more survivors than police reports reflect, handling hundreds of crisis calls and dozens of forensic exams across Coastal Georgia this year. Leaders stress that underreporting doesn’t mean assaults are rare and remind Savannah residents that confidential medical, counseling, and 24-hour hotline support are available whether or not someone reports to police.

Local establishments stock up and increase security ahead of New Years Eve celebrations (wtoc.com) — Savannah bars and restaurants are gearing up for big New Year’s Eve crowds, with extra supplies on hand and security stepped up in coordination with city patrols. Despite midweek timing and chilly weather, businesses like Savannah Smiles Dueling Piano Bar expect strong turnout as tourism remains high and travelers pack the city to ring in 2026.
   

4. One man shot and killed at Frazier Homes in Savannah (wsav.com) — Savannah police are investigating a deadly Sunday night shooting at Frazier Homes on West Gwinnett Street that drew a large law enforcement response. City Alderwoman Alicia Miller Blakely condemned the violence, and investigators are asking anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers anonymously as they work to identify those responsible.
   

5. Sentencing approaches after jury convicts Savannah man in CBD store robbery, Police shooting case (wtoc.com) — A Savannah man has been convicted on 13 felony counts tied to a CBD store robbery, carjacking, and shooting at a Savannah police officer on Ogeechee Road. Jurors found him guilty of multiple firearm and assault charges, and he now faces potentially decades in prison when he’s sentenced Jan. 28 by Judge Walmsley.
