Here are the top three stories in Savannah today:
- Increased travel can bring improvements to Savannah Hilton Head International Airport. Officials have reported that record-high traveler numbers in Savannah show the need for several improvement projects in the works, including expanding the airport’s TSA checkpoint and expanding the footprint of the lone terminal. - Savannah detectives need your help to identify a suspect. A man captured on surveillance is accused of entering a vehicle and stealing money from the center console. According to the Savannah Police Department, the suspect possibly goes by "Monte." Anyone with information on the man’s identity is asked to contact detectives at (912) 651-6994, ext. 1391. (WSAV-TV)
- Chef Mashama Bailey will be honored at the 18th annual Savannah Technical College Foundation Opportunity Gala. Mashama Bailey, an award-winning chef and the co-founder of Grey Spaces, will be honored for being a leader in the local community for a lifetime of service in creating and enhancing opportunities for others to succeed. - Savannah History Museum celebrated Georgia Day on Sunday, Feb. 12. The colony of Georgia was founded on Feb. 12, 1733, by James Edward Oglethorpe and 114 colonists — who disembarked from the frigate Anne — climbed up the bluff of the Savannah River and established what was to become the city of Savannah.
