Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:
- Chatham County's Tom Tripplet Park has a new dog park. The new addition celebrated its grand opening on Saturday morning with free treats. The park will now be available for dogs of all sizes. The county parks and recreation department hopes that the new addition will bring the community together. (WTOC)
- The Chatham County Commission has approved $3.2 million for deck collapse repair at the Trade Center Landing. The deck area is mostly blocked off with repair work not started. The cause of the collapse has not been identified but a popular theory is an earthquake from two weeks ago. (WTOC)
- The Savannah Mall will once again be put up for auction on Aug. 8. The property was once a bustling home for storefronts on the city's southside but is now being listed for $2.5 million. There is a proposal for the city to purchase the property and transform it into a community center for the Southside. If the proposal passes, the mall would include green space, an amphitheater, retail space, housing, and a Southside Police precinct. (WSAV)
