Here are the top three stories in Savannah today:

  1. Chatham Emergency Management Agency has entered its Enhanced Monitoring Phase in preparation for Subtropical Storm Nicole's impact. This phase is the advanced stage of readiness for the agency. The storm has sustained maximum winds of about 45 miles per hour and is moving northwest at about nine miles per hour. It has the potential of becoming a full hurricane by Wednesday evening. (Savannah Morning News)
  2. The Georgia State Patrol reports that one man was killed during a single-vehicle crash on Shipyard Road in Savannah. The crash occurred on Friday just before 11:00 p.m. Carroll Clifton, 43 years old, struck a palm tree while traveling east. The crash is currently being investigated. (WJCL)
  3. Today is Election Day in Savannah. The polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Residents in line at 7:00 p.m. will be allowed to cast a ballot.
