Hello all. I'm back with your new edition of the Savannah Daily, fresh off the presses. Let's get this Thursday started off right, with a quick review of everything you need to know about what's happening in town these days.

- Last month, the Port of Savannah handled an increase in 20-foot container units. According to the Georgia Ports Authority Executive Director, Savannah's geographic location and capacity advantages are driving the state's cargo growth. Last month, the Georgia Ports Authority handled 575,513 units — an 18.5 percent increase. (Savannah CEO)
- Daffin Park will be hosting the first Savannah Day of Peace on Sep. 25. The Meditation Center of the Coastal Empire, Inc. is holding the event to increase peace, counter violence, and encourage Savannah unity. The event will be held between noon and 4:00 p.m. There will be a Peace Parade, Courageous Conversation Circles, and wellness areas. (WSAV-TV)
- City officials are still working to reduce Savannah's traffic deaths. On average, there are 22 traffic deaths each year on the city's streets. The city hopes to reduce that number to zero by 2027. The city will be updating crosswalks, curb bump-outs, markings, visibility, and basic infrastructure during its campaign to reduce the number of traffic deaths. (WTOC)
