Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:
- A former Savannah city councilman has been arrested for theft. Tony Thomas was arrested by the Pooler Police Department for theft by taking at the Parker's on Godley Station. The bond has been set for Thomas at $2,400. Thomas lost his alderman position in 2019 after losing re-election. (WTOC)
- The Savannah Police Department is currently investigating a Tuesday night shooting. The incident occurred on W. 54th Street near Montgomery Street. The shooting victim is at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The department has not released any information about a potential suspect as of Wednesday evening. (WJCL News Savannah)
- After two years of being held virtually, the 17th Annual Buddy Walk is returning to Savannah's Forsyth Park. The walk is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1 at 10:00 a.m. Registration is currently $15 per participant. The Buddy Walk raises money for local LDSS programs while raising awareness for Down Syndrome.
