- Georgia Southern University has recognized approximately 30 university police officers for mental health training. Georgia Public Safety Training Center, in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities and the Georgia Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, presented Georgia Southern officers with Crisis Intervention Training. Georgia Southern has put a focus on mental health since COVID-19 began to address the needs of its students, expand counseling services, and provide mental health resources and programs. - The Savannah Tree Foundation, a community forestry nonprofit, has appointed three new members to its Board of Directors. Brandy Adams, Amy Gutting, and Phillip Zellner will join Savannah Tree Foundation, coming from backgrounds as an assistant manager, realtor, and ISA-Certified Arborist. The Foundation is celebrating its 40th year, and the Board of Directors is part of what keeps it fresh and growing in both passion and planning. (Savannah CEO)
- Georgia Southern University's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration will include special guest speaker Georj Lewis. Lewis is the Atlanta Metropolitan State College President and former vice president for student affairs at Georgia Southern and Armstrong State University.
