  1. A Savannah JROTC instructor is now facing charges of child molestation. Lt. Col. Harry Drayton turned himself into the Savannah Police Department on Jul. 5 and resigned. He has been an instructor with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School's JROTC program since 2018. (Newsbreak)
  2. The Chatham County Health Department has issued a beach water advisory for a portion of Tybee Island. The advisory for North Beach from Gulick Street to Lovell Street was issued after enterococcus bacteria was discovered to be above EPA standards. It is not unusual for a beach advisory to be issued for high levels of enterococcus bacteria. It can be caused by an increase in animal waste, storm runoff, or boating waste. (WJCL News Savannah)
  3. Applications for Savannah Youth Council are now open. The 2023 program will start this fall. The program is meant to provide an opportunity for Savannah youth to learn about local government while gaining a sense of civic responsibility. The leadership program began in 2004. Click to apply.
