  1. Chatham Emergency Management hosted a hurricane preparedness workshop on Saturday. The Savannah area is currently in the middle of hurricane season — at its peak. The three workshop sessions taught participants about hurricane issues such as tornadoes, storm surges, and evacuations. Participants were able to take home free disaster kits after the sessions.   2. About 80 children participated in the Alee Angler Kids Fishing Derby in Savannah. The event was held on Saturday morning at Lake Mayer. Participants were broken into three age groups. Each child was given a prize through the Savannah Boat House and the Savannah Sport Fishing Club. (GON.com)
  3. Despite remaining the most expensive location in metro Georgia for gas, prices have dropped eight cents this week. The average price of gas in Savannah is now $3.36 per gallon. The state average is currently $3.25 per gallon. (Fox 28 Media)
