- A local organization is offering to help thousands of people across Southeast Georgia file their taxes for free. Volunteers backed by the IRS and funded by the United Way and the City of Savannah plan to assist those who may be in need of tax help, such as the elderly, those with limited English capabilities, and anyone else in need of their services. The nonprofit group is also seeking more volunteers. (WJCL News Savannah)
- A new exhibit on display in Savannah gives the public an opportunity to learn more about the experiences of people during the Holocaust in World War II. The Cattle Car Experience, which features a WWII-era cattle car replica, will be on display at the Jewish Educational Alliancetoday (Monday, Jan. 9) and tomorrow (Tuesday, Jan. 10). It had previously been on display at the Benedictine School Campus and the Skidaway Community Church. (Savannah Morning News)
- Rod Stephenson, a Savannah man who was diagnosed two years ago with Alzheimer's, expressed hope at the news of a newly-approved drug for the disease. "Today is a blessing from God," said Stephenson. The medication is the second-ever drug approved by the FDA meant for patients in the early stages of Alzheimer's. (WTOC)

- The Savannah Police Department warned residents of a possible scam where a caller identifies himself as a police officer and tells people that they've missed a court appearance. If you get a call like that, hang up immediately, and don't give them any personal information. (WSAV-TV)
- Some restaurants and bars in Savannah will be offering extended hours and deals for tonight's national championship game. Mondays are normally a slow time for restaurants, and the businesses hope that the game will help bring in customers. (WTOC)
