Here are the top 3 stories in Savannah today:
- On Saturday, the Savannah Police Department held a memorial for the loss of beloved mounted patrol horse Forrest. Forrest had to be put down last month after a battle with cancer. He worked for SPD for 12 years and after he retired, Forrest worked as a therapy horse for the Wounded Warrior Project and for children with special needs. He will be missed by all SPD members. - A truck crashed into an Ogeechee Road business on Thursday night. Over the weekend, officials announced that two people have since died from the crash. According to Georgia State Police, officers responded to the crash around 11 p.m. on Thursday; the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead this weekend. The crash is still under investigation as of Sunday. (WJCL News Savannah)
- Ardsley Station was burglarized twice last week by the same person and now calls on city leaders for help. The thief stole as much as $4,000 worth of food between both break-ins. Tyler Kopkas, the owner of Ardsley Station, worries for the safety of his staff and for the image of the area as a whole, not wanting to deter tourists from visiting. (WSAV-TV)
