- Savannah's Martin Luther King. Jr. Day parade returned to the city after being shut down for the last two years due to COVID-19. The parade is one of the largest celebrations for the holiday in the U.S. and included more than 250 groups and performers this year. (Subscription: Savannah Morning News)
- A Savannah native and the founder of a nonprofit was honored with the MLK Observance Day Association's Trailblazer Award this week. Latasha Barnes, whose non-profit has helped thousands of local youth, described her journey from troubled teen to community leader with her organization Saving Our Youth Savannah. (WSAV-TV)
- Outside Savannah and Outside Hilton Head have kicked off their annual coat drive this week. The drive asks for donations of slightly used winter gear, like jackets, sweaters, blankets, etc. The donations are then given to the Old Savannah City Mission and the Deep Well Project in Hilton Head.
