  1. The Chatham County Chair has proposed a decrease in the millage rate. Chester Ellis reports that the decrease is needed due to rising property values. The county will be able to maintain its services while providing relief for county families. The proposed budget has the millage rate remaining the same. (WSAV-TV)
  2. The Savannah Police Department is investigating a Friday morning shooting. The department responded to the 100 block of Congress Street after receiving reports of shots being fired. An adult male reportedly received a minor wound to his leg and was treated at the scene. (WTOC)
  3. The Georgia Ports Authority reports that a record number of containers were moved from the Port of Savannah last month. There were 519,388 containers moved through the port in May, roughly an 8.5 percent increase compared to May 2021. The increase is reportedly due to strong consumer demand that is driving high container volumes. (Centers Square)
