- According to the city of Savannah, the proposed millage rate is the lowest in 35 years. If the city adopted the rate, it would reduce property taxes for Stephens-Day exemption qualified homes. There will be hearings on Jul. 14 and Jul. 28 to discuss the rate with residents. (WSAV-TV)
- A suspect attempted to evade the Chatham County Police Department in a dangerous way. According to the department, 29-year-old Billy Sloan jumped into an alligator-invested pond at the Al Henderson Golf Course on Friday morning. Sloan has been accused of unlawfully entering homes in the golf course community. (WJCL News Savannah)
- Five individuals were taken to a local hospital after a mass stabbing at a Savannah home on Delessepps Avenue. Roger Hendrix allegedly stabbed four family members and himself during a domestic-related incident in the avenue's 1900 block. He will be charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple battery, and cruelty to children when he is released from the hospital. (WJCL News Savannah)
